Since 2005 I work as a freelance photographer. After working as a press photographer for a few years I shifted my focus to portrait photography and documentary work. To give my work a stronger theoretical basis I decided to finish my master in anthropology that I left in 1994. I obtained my degree in 2013, specialized in questions around authenticity and identity.
Since 2013 I teach photography and anthropology at the Media Studies faculty at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam on part time basis.
Together with filmmaker Sjoerd Sijsma, we are a team dedicated to using visual ethnographic methods to realize social change. We have over twenty years of experience working in the private sector, development projects, journalism, photography and film.
